We designed Ty Gwyn to accommodate large groups for big family get togethers or special occasions, such as special birthdays or anniversaries - Lawrence and I have looked for places ourselves in the past but ended up booking a youth hostels, which while very nice, didn’t really suit the occasion. There didn’t seem to be many options between bunkhouses or stately homes and that wasn’t what we were looking for - we just wanted a big, comfortable, warm house with a big dining table so that we could all be together at meal times - we didn’t want to be in 4 or 5 separate cottages on the one site, which is often the case.
As soon as we saw Ty Gwyn (White House) we knew it was the place for us - in the Snowdonia National Park but right on the beautiful West coast of Wales. The view from the front door (and many of the bedrooms) is of Barmouth, Shell Island, Pwllheli, Abersoch and Aberdaron and then Bardsey Island is immediately in front of us - breathtaking (please read our reviews)!
There is plenty of space to move at Ty Gwyn and we have 4 and half acres of land and gardens, unlimited parking and no neighbours to bother. The lovely village of Llwyngwril has a great pub and shop (a 5 minute walk away) and the beach below the village is very easily accessible.
11 hole Frisbee Golf course. Frisbee Golf a great game that can be played by all the family, regardless of age and is a great way of getting people outside for some fun.
Fibre broadband with wi-fi throughout - most important nowadays!
There is a good network of Sonos speakers throughout Ty Gwyn - make sure you download the Sonos app before you arrive so you can play your favourite music.
If Ty Gwyn is the place you have been searching for then please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
A games room on the top floor with pool table - this area is a real magnet for kids and adults alike.
A proper bar! There are beer taps on the bar but they are purely decorative, you just need to stock the fridge - the optics do work though if you want to bring a few bottles.
Cinema with genuine cinema seats, surround sound, PS4, projector and huge 3m screen - another magnet for for adults and kids alike!
Large lounge with leather settees and large wood burner.
The large dining table sits 18 and then there is an additional table when required - all guests can be accommodated in the one dining room.
6 shower rooms (1 ensuite) and 6 W/Cs over the 3 floors.
Accessible bedroom on the ground floor with accessible wet room - perfect for any elderly or infirm guests.
There are 10 bedrooms in total - configuration (also see floor plan):
We are offering 2 or 3 nights over a weekend at Ty Gwyn (3 night minimum over school holidays): 2 nights at £2900 and 3 nights £3400 - so only £48 and £37 per person per night respectively if there are 30 of you. You can arrive anytime after 2pm on Thursday, Friday or Saturday and then don’t need to leave until 2pm, giving you a full 2 days (not offered by all properties) with no rushing out 10 or 11am after any sort of celebration!
The above cost includes all electricity, heating, electricity, use of the sauna, wi-fi, linen but not towels. From November 2017 we will have a wood burning hot tub and sauna available that should certainly add to that party/festival feeling - the cost will also include a 1.5 cubic metre of logs that can be used in the hot tub and sauna along with the wood burner and fire pit. It’s a huge pallet box full of logs that should easily last 2/3 days, as long as you don’t burn too many on the fire pit on the first night!
We will ask for a cautionary £500 deposit to cover extra cleaning and breakages and this will need to be paid with the balance of the rental at 8 weeks prior to the commencement date. This deposit will of course be refunded if the property is left in the condition you find it. Please read the terms and conditions for Ty Gwyn.
