Ty Gwyn

We designed Ty Gwyn to accommodate large groups for big family get togethers or special occasions, such as special birthdays or anniversaries - Lawrence and I have looked for places ourselves in the past but ended up booking a youth hostels, which while very nice, didn’t really suit the occasion. There didn’t seem to be many options between bunkhouses or stately homes and that wasn’t what we were looking for - we just wanted a big, comfortable, warm house with a big dining table so that we could all be together at meal times - we didn’t want to be in 4 or 5 separate cottages on the one site, which is often the case.

As soon as we saw Ty Gwyn (White House) we knew it was the place for us - in the Snowdonia National Park but right on the beautiful West coast of Wales. The view from the front door (and many of the bedrooms) is of Barmouth, Shell Island, Pwllheli, Abersoch and Aberdaron and then Bardsey Island is immediately in front of us - breathtaking!

There is plenty of space to move at Ty Gwyn and we have 4 and half acres of land and gardens, unlimited parking and no neighbours to bother. The lovely village of Llwyngwril has a great pub and shop (a 5 minute walk away) and the beach below the village is very easily accessible.

11 hole Frisbee Golf course. Frisbee Golf a great game that can be played by all the family, regardless of age and is a great way of getting people outside for some fun.

New for November 2017 will be a wood burning hot tub and sauna to add to the holiday experience - the sauna will overhang the bank by the glass decking and will have a glazed end so you can enjoy the sunsets from inside the sauna!

Fibre broadband with wi-fi throughout - most important nowadays!

There is a good network of Sonos speakers throughout Ty Gwyn - make sure you download the Sonos app before you arrive so you can play your favourite music.

Accommodation

A games room on the top floor with pool table - this area is a real magnet for kids and adults alike.

A proper bar! There are beer taps on the bar but they are purely decorative, you just need to stock the fridge - the optics do work though if you want to bring a few bottles.

Cinema with genuine cinema seats, surround sound, PS4, projector and huge 3m screen - another magnet for for adults and kids alike!

Large lounge with leather settees and large wood burner.

The large dining table sits 18 and then there is an additional table with benches when required - all people accommodated in the one room.

6 shower rooms (1 ensuite) and 6 W/Cs over the 3 floors.

Accessible bedroom on the ground floor with accessible wet room - perfect for any elderly or infirm guests.

There are 10 bedrooms in total - configuration (also see floor plan):

  • Top Bedroom has 4 singles

  • Linda’s, Jack’s, Green and Brown Rooms have king-sized beds

  • Red Room has twin beds that go together to make a ‘super king’ if required.

  • Big Bunkroom has 3 bunks

  • Colin’s and Blue Room are family rooms with a bunk & king-sized bed

  • Silver Room is an accessible ground floor bedroom with accessible en-suite (the 2 single beds can be pushed together to make a super king).

Cost

We are offering 2 or 3 nights over a weekend at Ty Gwyn (3 night minimum over school holidays): 2 nights at £2400 and 3 nights £3400 - so £40 and £37 per person per night respectively if there are 30 of you. You could arrive anytime after 2pm on Thursday, Friday or Saturday and then leave at anytime up to 4pm on the last day. We felt this was the best way of doing it as you don’t want to be rushing out in the morning after any sort of celebration!

The cost includes all electricity, heating, electricity, wi-fi, linen but not towels. From November 2017 there will be a wood burning hot tub and sauna at Ty Gwyn - we have already finished the fire pit and this has already proved to be the very best place to finish off any evening! The cost to use these is £250 and this includes a 1.5 cubic metre pallet box full of logs for use in the hot tub, sauna, wood burner in lounge and fire pit - this should be enough for your stay as long as you don’t burn too much in the fire pit on your first night!

We will ask for a cautionary £500 deposit to cover extra cleaning and breakages and this will need to be paid with the balance of the rental at 6 weeks prior to the commencement date. This deposit will of course be refunded if the property is left in the condition you find it. Please read the terms and conditions for Ty Gwyn.

Ty Gwyn is truly a special place in the perfect location for any special occasion - you wouldn’t be disappointed.

Best wishes

Linda
