A fantastic week at the Granary
Thankyou for a fantastic week at the Granary.
You are without doubt living everybody’s dream. Set in idyllic countryside with the freedom to go where we pleased - we even managed to climb up to the hill fort to view the wind turbines. Your friendliness made everything feel so good. The ducks and cats came every day for their feed and collecting eggs direct from under the chickens was something special. I hope your owl is now much better! The lake is a fisherman’s paradise.
This time we did the touristy bits - Portmeirion, Conwy Castle, Betws-y-Coed, Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and climbing Snowdon but when we come again, which we will, we will totally chill out and explore more of your lovely area. We may even try Tudor Cottage for its breathtaking views. We still cant believe how quiet the roads are compared to our hustle and bustle of East Kent. We even managed to finish the jig saw puzzle which we left for your approval. Wishing you every success until we call again,
Mervyn and Susan, Dover, Kent
I only wish we could have stayed longer!
I just wanted to say what a fabulous time we had staying in Granary Cottage. I only wish we could have stayed longer but unfortunately we had to come back to reality and work! The cottage was just so cosy and homely in such an idyllic setting. Such a great place to get away from the city. We loved Trig the owl too!
I am now trying to work out with Kris when we can get time off work next and come again. Hopefully it won’t be too long! Thank you.
We’re missing the Granary already! Thank you so much for a really beautiful and relaxing location…the renovation of the cottage is superb and really shows how much time you must have taken. You have certainly thought about everyone’s needs and provided a great range of facilities, including the scones on arrival! We do hope to return next year, possibly during the Autumn so that we can light the odd fire. The Visitor’s comments book all say the same thing - it is a delightful place and truly romantic and relaxing. (By the way we don’t think a dishwasher is necessary - we washed up together and talked to each other!!!)
Best wishes and continued success,
Claire and John Nurse
Absolutely stunning, picturesque & tranquil!
My partner and I stayed in the Granary for two nights as a birthday present and what a present it was! The pictures do not do this place justice at all, the cottage was lovely, very well laid out and so relaxing to be inside. As for the grounds, I have never seen views like it, all around you can see beautiful valleys sweeping across the horizon. I could feel all stresses just leave me once we got within a few miles of the grounds, due to everything around. We kept stopping for pictures of everything we could see due to how stunning it all was. We met Linda who was very nice and welcoming and you felt you could ask anything, when needed. The only thing we would say (and this is nothing about the cottage itself, but a lesson learnt) is grab your food shop before you get there, the stunning views are there for a reason, there is not too many options around (even less than we thought there would be). Overall words can’t describe how much this place meant, the memories of the kayaks, the views from the hot tub and just the overall feel of the whole place. This needs to be experienced by yourself, you won’t be disappointed. We may even see you there!
Hi Lauren Thank you very much for your very kind words, I’m really pleased you both enjoyed yourselves in The Granary - anytime you want to come back you would be more than welcome. With the shopping, we always recommend that guests do a ‘big’ shop on the way here and just top up in Bala if they need to, or you could visit the Rhug Estate shop near Corwen if you want a few special items. Alternatively we can get Asda deliveries up here if you don’t want to load your car up. I don’t know if you spotted our new Disc Golf course in the back field? That’s a really fun game to play no matter what your skill levels and we should have it finished this week. Thanks again. Linda

Absolutely stunning 5*
A gorgeous secluded cottage in the north Welsh hills. Stunning scenery all around ideal base for trips out and about. The owners were welcoming and friendly and the cottage was gorgeous and felt like a real home from home. It was very comfy and cosy and the log burner was a brilliant touch. We made use of the sauna and hot tub and both her brilliant - the views across the hills from the hot tub were superb and I couldn’t of asked for a better place to celebrate a romantic weekend away.

We arrived on the Friday afternoon with a warm welcome from Lawrence who gave us a quick tour of the grounds and offered any help we might need. On entering the granary itself, we were left in awe, it is beautiful and we fell in love with it instantly. Despite searching online for photographs of the property before arrival, none of them could do it justice. We only stayed for a short weekend, but did a couple of the recommended walks, with idyllic views and nothing but the sound of nature was audible, this truly was a secluded, peaceful area. In the early evening, we lay in the hot tub on the hillside, relaxing our aching muscles from walking earlier in the day. Because of the time of year, nightfall was early and we were lucky enough to have clear skies. With so little light pollution, the stars and Milky Way were clearly visible above us as we relaxed. For us, this was the most beautiful, peaceful, romantic getaway we have ever had. If you want a romantic weekend in a beautiful cottage. If you want to get away from the daily grind, or if you just enjoy nature, then this is nothing short of perfect. Thank you Linda and Lawrence for a memorable weekend xx

Gorgeous get away
We had three fantastic nights, relaxing and enjoying the peace and quiet of this unique location. A great spot to come back to after busy days adventuring in Wales. The hot tub and its views are incredible. All in all we would advise this to anyone looking to get away from it all.

We love the Granary. It is now familiar (we have been there 11 times), so it feels like a home from home. The location is perfect if you want to be in the middle of nowhere, with interesting walks aplenty on your doorstep. The facilities are brilliant for easy relaxed maintenance of two people. The layout is just right for either good or inclement weather. You just need to know that alfresco is as possible as curled up in front of the fire. The property is always spotlessly clean when we arrive (and there is always freshly baked scones on out arrival) and in great order maintenance wise. We now know the owners well and they are always very friendly and courteous. We are regularly in e-mail contact with them. I would heartily recommend this property to anyone who wants an off the beaten track holiday. We don’t really do much apart from go walking when we visit, so can’t really recommend any activities, but the outdoors is fantastic all around. Come prepared for all weathers and you will be fine.

A great prescription for chilling out
This easy to get to property, just 10 mins off the A5 has everything you could wish for on a short break holiday. The Granary was a great comfortable place to stay set on a farm on a scenic Welsh hill with great views and walk. The owners and family are friendly and helpful. We loved the hot tub with views over the mountains. The price represents great value. Overall we could not fault it and would happily recommend it. We will be going back ourselves!

I want to stay forever…
We stayed in Tudor Cottage for one week and felt relaxed and at home five minutes after arriving. The cottage is lovely and cosy and has absolutely every single thing we could want. Lovely walks from the door, the sauna to relax in and views from the hot tub are magnificent. So relaxing to do a little fishing, paddle around the lake and then a nice stroll back for tea. Kids loved collecting the eggs and watching the chickens. Beautifully peaceful without being too isolated. Can’t recommend highly enough. Would love to go back and rarely say that about anywhere!

Fantastic little cottage to relax. We needed to unwind after we got married but hadn’t the time for a honeymoon, we opted for 3 days at the granary and it was perfect. The hot tub is great and set with some amazing views around you, we loved the log fire and is close enough to a village centre for some lovely places to eat. We will certainly be back.

Thank You For A Great Break
My partner and i took our 9 week old son away for a 4 day break in the Granary cottage from 7th - 10th May. We were in desperate need of some relaxation seeing as we’ve been sleep deprived for some time… Thankfully the Granary ticked all boxes! I spoke with Linda prior to arriving and she placed a travel cot next to the bed for our son and made us feel entirely welcome as soon as we arrived. The cottage was equiped to a high standard and the full sky system for a welcomed advantage (this always helps us to get through the night feeds!) We made the most of the breathtaking scenery by going on many and varied walks during our stay - couldn’t tell you who was more tired at the end, either us or our son!?!? We have already spoken to my borther and family and are looking at dates in the near furture to hire both the Granary and Tudor cottages as there is certainly something for everyone! Special thanks to Linda and Lawrence for the excellent communicaiton, warm welcome and friendly atmosphere. Looking forward to our next stay. Oliver and Family

A little slice of Welsh Heaven
My partner & I spent another idyllic weekend at The Granary cottage, having spent a weekend at the same cottage in January 2015. A work colleague had recommended the cottage and we have decided that if there are available dates we must spend a weekend there each season, so far we have done a winter break, a Spring break & we look forward to many more stays in the future. We choose lots of “mini- breaks” as a way of recharging our batteries rather than a fortnight in an exotic location once a year. I can honestly say that The Granary cottage has topped the list of my favourite locations. The website is good but does not do justice to the full experience of staying at the cottage. The cottage is abosolutely immaculate and the attention to detail is second to none. Home made scones, and a tray set with crockery for afternoon tea welcomed us. The cosy kitchen with quarry tiles on the floor, up to the living area with wood burner, and a well stocked CD collections and the comfiest bed up a couple more steps. A beautiful large spotless shower room on the ground floor. Patio doors lead off the living area. A short walk up to to the top of a small hill leads to a wonderful hot tub with wonderous views to behold. Followed by further relaxation in the sauna. In the morning we collected our eggs from Linda & Lawrence’s generous laying hens, & wood from the barn to keep the wood burner going. A lovely walk down to their lake, where we imagined Summer visits where we will come back and swim in the lake. The area is so accessible to wonderful walks, the mountains & coast are so accessible, and a vist to the Glassblobbery led to a few special purchases as keepsakes of a wonderful break. Nothing is too much trouble for Linda & her lovely family, and we really made use of their youngest son’s “Callum’s mini bar” when we decided we really fancied some mulled wine & maltesers in front of the fire as we listened to Nora Jones playing at the end of a wonderful day. I cannot recommend a stay at the Granary or Tudor cottage highly enough and the visitors book is testimony to everybody who seems to have stayed saying they must return. Thank you for some wonderful memories.

Our stay at ‘The Granary’ was everything I had hoped it would be. Peaceful, cosy & intimate. The surroundings are perfect, plenty of places to walk and a visit to the iron hill fort is a must to any visitors. The views are endless. The hot tub and the sauna were welcomed by us both after our days climbing up mount Snowdon to ease our aches and pains. Linda has everything covered, bed linen, towels, wellies, push bikes, fully equipped kitchen, maps & Info, logs for the fire, eggs from the chicken coop and even a welcome tray of tea and scones! I will definitely be returning to explore more of the Welsh countryside as 3 nights was just not long enough. I cannot recommend the cottages highly enough, thank you Linda for your hospitality, we will see you in the future. Best wishes to you and your family. Hayley & Mark xx

Not to be missed!
I have stayed at The Granary numerous times over the last 10 years or so and I can’t wait to go back each year.It is always scrupulously clean, comfortable and inviting (Linda even leaves homemade scones to welcome you!) with all your needs provided for. It’s quaint and unique but provides all the modern conveniences you need. If you go in the Winter there’s central heating and the luxury of a wood burner to keep you warm and if you stay in the summer there are patio doors opening onto private decking, they have their own small lake, plus there’s a hot tub on the site! I love it because it’s very peaceful and quiet but Linda and Lawrence are on hand if you need anything. I go on my own (although it sleeps two comfortably)and enjoy the solitude but feel secure because the owners are across the courtyard. The Granary is up in the hills above the pleasant little town of Bala which has independent shops, a large lake and is surrounded by unspoilt countryside. There are lots of places of interest to visit within easy reach including Betws-y-Coed, the North Wales coast and of course Snowdonia and all that area has to offer.I would recommend The Granary without reservation.

What a lovely place to get away from the hustle bustle. The Granary was welcoming and homely, with everything you could wish for on a weekend away. The property was absolutely spotless and well maintained, and Linda met us on arrival. The only problem we had was the weather which meant we couldn’t explore the beautiful countryside surrounding it. We have booked to go again in March so fingers crossed, we may be able to get out. Would definitely recommend the granary for a week or a couple of days away and can’t wait to return.

A Slice of Paradise
This is not the first time that we have stayed here and we can not get enough of this place. Linda & Lawrence are the perfect hosts and nothing is to much trouble for them. It’s like going back to visit friends. We have stayed in both the Granary and Tudor cottages and they are of the very best standard that you could wish for. Comfortable beds, well appointed accommodation and the views are to die for, as is the silence. Oh and the hot tub, what a stunning view over the valley. If you want luxury, relaxation, great views, fabulous walks and the very best of hosts then look no further.
We will be back again and again. Linda and Lawrence…..thank you for the very best relaxing break.

A little bit of heaven
It is with some reluctance that I write this review as in doing so I reveal a gem that I would like to keep for myself. However Linda and Lawrence are such lovely people my concience will not allow me to keep the place a secret! I have stayed in both property’s and both have their own charms. They are equipped to a high standard with all creature comforts. For me the location is perfect and if you too like peace and quiet and beautiful views then this place is a winner. There are walks in abdundence and a hot tub , a short walk up a little hill which affords you beautiful views to relax in afterwards. Just lovely , laura xx

The perfect getaway
This place is my haven. I’ve visited the Granary a number of times over the years and I love it! The surroundings and landscape is stunning. Linda and Lawrence are so welcoming and lovely. The cottage itself is beautifully kept, very clean and every little detail has been thought of. There are some stunning walks around and breath taking views. We enjoyed the golf Frisbee (this is a new addition) loads of fun - watch out for the horses! We had games of table tennis and for the first time this year we went kayaking on the lake. All this was topped off by relaxing in the hot tub on the top of the hill and watching the sun go down - bliss. Back into the cozy cottage to snuggle up by the log fire and watch movies. There are loads of DVDs to choose from, board games to play and books to read. You can collect your own eggs from the hens themselves for breakfast. I will recommend this place over and over again and I will definitely be returning time and time again.

Wonderfully Peaceful and Relaxing Stay
We we’re recommended the Granary by a friend and we were not disappointed in the slightest. The cottage is cosy and perfect for two, the wood burning fire really adds to the countryside feel. We live in Manchester so this was a world away from there but it still felt homely. It’s lovely to be able to walk around near the cottage and know there will be very few people you’ll see! The hot tub was really beautiful, considering we went in March, it was freezing but the temperature was perfect. I have never felt so relaxed in my life and we had a truly wonderful couple of days there! We will definitely be returning (already looking at dates!) and would recommend to anyone.

We will be going back excellent cottage!

Peaceful and quiet
The Granary cottage is located in a beautiful area at the end of a no-through road so no passing traffic anywhere near. The only sounds in the area were of the birds, an occasional owl and at night, and maybe the cockerel in the morning - not that I heard it!! The cottage itself has everything you could possibly need in a self catering property and personally was pleased to see hooks provided for coats etc. which many properties lack. I think the owners had just about thought of everything, although maybe extra shelves/cupboard in the bathroom would be handy. That aside, it was a gorgeous property, comfortable and warm with a lovely patio/decked area to sit out on in the afternoon/evening. The hot tub was well used by us and was nice and secluded and although shared with the other cottage we did not see anyone else near the hot tub. The added advantage of this cottage was the games room which include pool, darts and table tennis and also a sauna if you wish to use it plus Frisbee golf! Overall one of the best self catering properties we have been to and would highly recommend.

Beautiful countryside retreat
A beautiful cottage in wonderful surroundings. Would benefit from a good spring clean. The cottage had a well equipped kitchen and access to sky and internet for those evenings when the weather was not good. The facilities such as the hot tub and sauna were an added bonus. It was a novelty to be able to collect fresh each day for breakfast. The cottage is at least 3 miles from the nearest village so nights were enjoyed in the peace and quiet of the cottage grounds. There are many walks around the cottage for walkers to enjoy. Overall this was an enjoyable place to have a quiet break as long as you like being away from a village life or night entertainment.
Hi Caroline, thank you very much for your lovely review, it is very much appreciated. We fully agree with you on the spring clean and had already booked our decorator for the week after you left - he has been here for 2 weeks now doing both cottages and should be finished this week -hurrah! Best regards and thanks again. Linda

Peaceful countryside retreat
This is a beautiful little cottage located towards the top of a hillside deep in the countryside but still just 15mins from a decent sized town. A short walk to the top rewards you with stunning views across fields and farmland. The panoramic views are also easy to enjoy from the magnificent hot tub, which is a firm favourite going by the guest book! The cottage itself is small, homely and very well furnished. It is well located for exploring Snowdonia and other outdoor activities the area has to offer. The lasting impression I had from this property were the excellent views, friendly and welcoming owners and the on site facilities that would rival much larger holiday companies. Would love to come back one day!

Beautiful place ,peaceful, highly recommend
This cottage was absolutely fantastic. The owners have thought of everything to make your stay perfect. During the day we loved going for a peaceful walk, playing in the games room and fishing. Whilst we was here me and my partner climbed Snowdon, even though it was a 40 minute drive away I would definitely recommend this cottage to stay as everything was perfect and when we got back the hot tub felt even more amazing. On the nights we loved snuggling up in front of the log burner and watching films in peace. We would like to say a massive thank you to Laurence Linda their Son Callum and also Laurence’s Mother who all made us feel very welcome and safe. So if you are looking for a romantic break or even a few days just to relax and have some time away from the kids which we all need

Words cannot describe this blissful retreat, it has to be experienced. From the moment we arrived all our needs were taken care of (even down to Lawrence setting up the boxing for me to watch, which my girlfriend wouldn’t allow !!!). The roaring log fire made for relaxing peaceful evenings, and the hot tub on the hill a most welcome addition to unwind at any time of day. Thank you Linda and Lawrence for your Warmness and Hospitality, definitely will be coming back this year to experience your wonderful cottage during the Summer. Peter and Emma
